TITLE: Training Coordinator

COMPANY OF ASSIGNMENT: Kentucky Department for Public Health

PURPOSE: This position is located within the Kentucky Department for Public Health's (KDPH) Division of Public Health Protection & Safety and serves as the Training Coordinator for statewide overdose prevention initiatives. The position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating trainings that strengthen public health/public safety partnerships and support overdose prevention efforts across Kentucky. Responsibilities include planning and managing statewide trainings, meetings, and events in collaboration with public health professionals, public safety partners, and other subject matter experts. The position also performs other duties as assigned. This is a hybrid position based in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Annual Salary: $59,085.00

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6
months.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for specific duties as assigned, e.g.
a. Facilitate internal and external advisory committees to assess statewide overdose prevention needs, identify service gaps, and inform strategies to support care navigators.

b. Collaborate with KDPH's Public Health Educator to develop and implement overdose prevention trainings identified through advisory committee recommendations and OD2A training deliverables for professionals who interact with or provide services to individuals at risk of drug overdose.

c. Serve as Event Manager for annual statewide overdose prevention training events, including planning, coordination, and logistics and evaluation.

d. Develop, implement, and facilitate a statewide Local Health Department overdose prevention mentorship program to strengthen workforce capacity and promote best practices.

e. Collaborate with the KDPH Overdose Prevention Liaison to develop, expand, and maintain virtual overdose prevention trainings for incorporation into the KY-TRAIN learning management system, ensuring accessible, evidence-based training opportunities for public health, public safety, and community partners across Kentucky.

f. Collaborate with the Overdose Response Strategy to develop and deliver ODMAP training opportunities and provide Kentucky Drug Overdose Alert System trainings for public health and public safety partners in partnership with the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center.

g. Assist in the development of overdose prevention education and outreach materials in collaboration with statewide partners and Local Health Departments and support the KDPH Mobile Unit in providing overdose prevention and response education throughout Kentucky communities.

h. Assist with maintaining a statewide overdose prevention listserv of care navigators, state agencies, Local Health Departments, and Community Based Organizations. Resources disseminated will include, but are not limited to, overdose prevention initiatives, naloxone distribution kiosks, the Angel Initiative, FindHelpNowKY, FindNaloxoneNowKY, naloxone leave-behind programs, and Substance Use Disorder Continuum of Care.

i. Assist the KDPH Public Health Educator with data analysis, visualization, and content development for newsletters, reports, presentations, and other educational materials.

j. Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of KDPH's naloxone saturation strategic plan.

k. Utilize information technology systems to collect, manage, analyze, and report public health data, identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and inform policies, operational processes, and strategic planning for KDPH.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Experience, Training, or Skills: Four years of professional full-time experience in administration, project management, public health, or health program administration.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master’s degree in public health; or a health-related field will substitute for two years of required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in health program administration, public health, public health project management will substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): None

Special Knowledge and Skills: This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent technical report writing and public presentation skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to facilitate groups. Must be highly organized with ability to prioritize work, ability to collect, organize and evaluate information for reporting needs. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) certification preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is typically in both an office and in a field setting. Travel is required. Workdays and hours vary and are based upon needs for services.

JOB: General Office Equipment – computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, telephone, printer, and access to the internet for online system.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / JOB HAZARDS:
1. Current TB skin test indicating no evidence of communicable disease.
2. Possible physical management (lifting, balancing, maneuvering).

Additional Requirements:
• This position requires a clean drug screen prior to and randomly throughout employment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Background checks conducted prior to hire and updated annually.
• Some local and out of state travel opportunities for training, conferences, workshops, etc.
• Position may require variations in hours to meet project deadlines to include overtime.
• Required to maintain a valid driver's license and required to drive a licensed vehicle.
