Psychiatrist/Medical Director (KRCC)
Position: Psychiatrist/Medical Director of Community Medical Health Center
Position Summary: The Medical Director provides clinical leadership and medical oversight for all psychiatric and medical services within the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services in compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards. The Medical Director collaborates with executive leadership, clinical teams, and community partners to support integrated care, patient safety, and positive clinical outcomes.
The Medical Director serves as the supervising physician for psychiatric and medical staff and supports the mission of providing accessible, person-centered mental health and substance use treatment services to the community

Education & Licensure:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified in Psychiatry.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Kentucky.
- DEA registration and controlled substance certification as required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of psychiatric clinical experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in behavioral health preferred.
- Experience in community mental health, outpatient psychiatry, crisis services, or substance use treatment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of integrated care models and public behavioral health systems preferred
Primary Functions:
- Clinical Leadership:
- Provide medical oversight for psychiatric and behavioral health services.
- Establish and monitor standards of psychiatric care and clinical best practices.
- Supervise psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and other medical personnel.
- Participate in peer review, utilization review, and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Support trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally competent care practices.
- Patient Care:
- Provide direct psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services as needed.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist in development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
- Participate in strategic planning, program development, and organizational leadership initiatives.
- Assist with recruitment, credentialing, onboarding, and evaluation of medical staff.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
- Maintain compliance with:
- CMS and Medicaid requirements
- State behavioral health regulations
- HIPAA and confidentiality standards
- CARF, Joint Commission, or other accreditation standards as applicable
- Support risk management and incident review processes.
- Ensure proper medical documentation and recordkeeping standards.
- Maintain compliance with:
- Community & Organizational Collaboration:

- Support staff education, training, and professional development.
